A widowed teacher in Lahore becomes an overnight viral sensation when she unintentionally publishes her views on Pakistani society on social media. An unlikely influencer, Wakhri grapples with archaic ways of thinking while raising her ten-year-old son in the real world, where women's right to a voice and a place in society, physically or online, is a constant challenge. When Wakhri's real identity is made public, her life is in danger.
“Wakhri” is inspired by the fate of Pakistani influencer and feminist activist Qandeel Baloch, who was murdered by her brothers because of her views and her way of life.
