Identitti
Frankfurt Premiere in the presence of Mithu Sanyal and Sabrina Setlur (tbc)
When student Nivedita unearths the secret behind her revered professor Saraswati's identity, she spirals into her own reckoning. Based on Mithu Sanyal's acclaimed novel "Identitti"—a fierce examination of belonging, authenticity, and power.
Nivedita, a student and podcaster known as "Identitti," uncovers a scandal at the heart of the university: her revered professor Saraswati, who has built her entire reputation as a Person of Color, is actually white. The truth explodes on social media. Students take to the streets. But Nivedita's investigation becomes something deeper—a descent into the politics of identity, authenticity, and belonging. She meets Kaali, her dark mirror, and is forced to confront not just Saraswati's lies but her own complicity and her own fractured identity. Germany's first female rap star, Sabrina Setlur, makes a stunning film debut as Kaali.
