The Great Indian Kitchen

A young, just married woman suffers from the humiliations and restrictions in her in-laws' house. But one day she can't take it anymore.

After an arranged marriage to a teacher, an educated middle-class woman, finds herself in his respectable but patriarchal and conservative family. She is ready to adapt to the customs of the new home and make it her home. Everything seems to be going well, her husband and his parents love and care for her. But when her mother-in-law has to go away, the first problems appear. From now on, her life consists of cooking, cleaning and washing in endless succession. All attempts at change are relentlessly stifled by the men in the house. And one day, the unhappy wife can't take it anymore. The Great Indian Kitchen won the Kerala Film Critics Award 2020.
