European Premiere with special guest director
Tara Ramanujan

Nishiddho is a contemporary social drama that deals with urban migrant lives in Kerala, India.

Tapan, a migrant worker from Bengal, dies on a constructionsite in Ernakulam/ Kerala. His nephew Rudra, who used to be an idol-maker back home in Kolkata, tries to arrange the funeral. Without a Bengali priest, he settles for Chaavi, a tough, tamil midwife, who moonlights as a funeral guide. Destiny or design, Chaavi and Rudra run into each other often. Gingerly, they weave a fragile bond of kinship. A desperate Rudra wants Chaavi to come with him to Kolkata but then she is accused of attempted infanticide. Despite their differences, they want to make a life together, but something dark in their pasts hinders them.
