Payal Kapadia's feature film debut takes two nurses from the hustle and bustle of the big city to the idyllic seaside, where they experience personal turning points, accompanied by the chance of a romantic encounter.
Nurse Prabha lives in Mumbai with her younger colleague and roommate Anu. Prabha is estranged from her husband and tries to forget her past life by throwing herself into her work. When Prabha receives an unexpected gift from her husband, it throws her life into turmoil. Meanwhile, the carefree Anu is looking for a place in the city where she can be intimate with her lover. One day, Prabha and Anu take a trip to the seaside. There they come across a mystical forest, which is a space of freedom for them and helps the women to realize their dreams.
